so it's early in the morning a Im bored so I made a sump design
so the will be the main tank with a hole drilled in the bottom with a pvc pipe coming straight up for the over flow with notches and a cap, so the water will over flow in and come down to a T where the water will be dispursed over filter floss or a fine sponge the water will then run down through that and into a chamber of scrubbies, the water will then flow in to an area full of lava rock for natural filtration much like live rock in a marine setup the water will then over flow in to two baffles with more filter floss to get any debres the water from there will then go into the area in which the pump is, the pump will then carry the water up and be dispursed into the tank creating top water movement and flow

my suggestion-uses same legend plus additions (sorry about the butchering but i'm not a paint artist;))

sponge options to help with double stage filtration-1st trap large particles, 2nd polish
changes to create w/d in middle portion-scrubbies much better than lava rock.
note: i really haven't seen any sumps that use lava rock in these places but i always thought about using it since if you don't pack it in it shouldn't restrict flow and why not have some extra bio that may or may not offer potential denitrifying properties(my personal opinion which is often wrong but it doesn't stop me:grinno:)

hope this can help- usually tons of input w/ these but since i returned from hiatus i haven't seen the usuals posting:(.

oh yeah, like the happy fish ;)

How did a turd with a smiley face get into your tank? Is that corn....?

well you see I may or may not have had 12 beers

but seriously what do you guys think on the sump

its missing the heater/s.. sumps are so great because they hide the heaters
