nice down-to-earth presentation. great looking fish, too. your two main points about filtering and lighting are well taken. i think that fish prefer natural light versus artificial. i know that my fish respond in a positive way to natural sunlight shining on their tank from windows. i have noticed that my fish eventually do get used to artifiical lighting. it does take time, but piranha are different. they tend to panic all the time, when lights are turned on. i noticed that your oscars are calmer and react to artificial lighting much better than the piranha.

holly crap, lots of filtration............ why didint u sjut build a sump? woudl cost ya a lot less and would be alot less work then keeping all those canisters and hang ons.
