This is basically all my Royal does all the time but hes a nice looking fish...my Bristle on the other hand is the smallest thing in the tank and is a real work horse...

Do you have a good amount of wood in the tank for the royal to chew on?

I did for the first couple months but he never touched it so I took it out...he does I think chews on the coconuts in the tank and loves the spot in the pic

Put driftwood in for the royal. They need it. You may not see it but they need it. Also, offer them veggies a couple times a week. I've found that zuchinni is the easiest. Your other plecos will love it too. I put mine in (I give half a zuchinni at a time and then I cut that in half long ways and skewer it on spoons so they stay sunk to the bottom) at night and within minutes they look like a ball with pleco tails sticking out in every direction. Trust me on this as I learned the hard way with royals.
 
I stick a fork in my peeled zuchinni, tie fishing line to end of the fork for easy removal from the tank
