I have always been unsure of the exact use of this forum so some of you people can help me out here. Is this forum just for North American Natives or can any coolwater fish from around the world be discussed here?

I am a goldfish lover/collector and it would be great to know where some discussion can be struck up.

ANY coldwater fish. Goldfish are welcomed! My natives love them:FIREdevil hahaha. Just kidding I to keep goldfish. I keep them with natives in a pond and my biggest one is probably 4-5" and VERY pretty. I never knew how much I liked goldfish until I threw a bunch in my pond.

I like goldfish too, unfortunately I don't have the space to keep them.

Excellent to see other goldfish collectors here!
As much as i like commons and comets, they are just to - well common and plain.
Much more of a fancy goldfish admirer.

It is a shame people just categorise goldfish as either feeders (commons) or unnatural (fancies).

I am definably going to go back to starting a collection in the near future.

Ewurm, you do not need a big tank to keep fancies… 15 gallons each is fine.

Joshy,

15 gallons is too small, they get 6-8 inches!

Hmm, i have always gone by the rules of 15 gallons per fancy, and 30 gallons per common/comet...
Maybe i have been wrong on this assumption?
I am going to hunt down some refresher research.

goldfish r cool!

i put a couple commons in my turtles tank when they were like 1/2" long, now therye pushing 3"s and live im my 100 gallon.

i however, really do not like the fancy varieties of goldfish, or any varent of a fish that does not occur in its natural range.......

grmanrocks,

Don't expect those goldfish to live out a full life in your tank. I have a feeling they are going to get eaten down the road. I'm putting my money on the gar.

the gar will eventually be able to eat everything in that tank, red tailed shark, butterfly fish
and silver dollars included. that tanks stock in nething but permanent.

once the silver dollars get some size on them in gonna vut the school down to like the biggest 4-6. The butterfly will get his own tank, or take over the tetras 10 :naughty: . then when the gar reaches 15-17 inches im either gonna upgrade or find him a new home. so that the stock will be sumthin like this:

1 Orntae bichir
1 NGT
1 Polypterus ansorgii
2 ]v[onster goldfish
4-6 big ass silver dollars

i think theyll be fine, theyre growng about the same speed, if not faster than the gar,

and i think that even a 18 inch gar will have a hard time eating a 12 inch long goldfish

but if theres ne truoble breing ill just separate them. ive got tanks :D

how fast is the dat growing? Mine is barely growing at all, but I have a thin bar.
