could you get just one ram cichlid or do you need to get a pair

you can get just one.
i had a pair but the male died and the female still defend her breeding rock but other than that she's fine!
it is the females with the red bellies, right?

You can keep just one. I have a single ram with a school of neon tetras in a 15 gallon tank and he loves it. BigGourami females have the pink bellies and the males have the long black spike on their dorsal fin.

ok i might pick up some but the thing is i dont have mony for a bunch but how many is a good number to have also i think that thay are bolivian rams if that makes a difference

Just try not to buy those new Balloon rams..they are weak .. i lost mine in only a couple of months.. not a true ram.. but a mistake that is bred over and over..
