Just out of curiosity....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes, plenty of people are using intex pools as ponds, some temporary some permanent. of course you just have to watch out for anything with spines and sharp teeth that can puncture the pool. I have an 8' intex pool just started the setup for my juvi koi. got it brand new off ebay for $60 :)

You could keep some cool stuff in those pools. I smaller one could hold smooth hound pups and I would say the large one could hold a black tip or white tip pup with out a problem. Just remember that with sharks like black tips you will always have to up grade. So only buy what you can take care of. check out my setup its 18'x4' deep and just a little higher end version of the intex.

the 10 footer - can keep large Bamboos, eppies, or Cali Horn sharks for life. Or possible Smoothhound pups.

The 15 footer would be okay for Smoothhound adults(3-4'), or small requiem shark pups (2.5-3.5' - depending on the species).

Still for either the smoothhounds or the requiem pups - if possible a larger pool would definitely be better.

get a great white in there !

Bah - mating pair, easily!

Get the bigger pool. And guitarfish are awesome. They look like aliens when you see them belly-side

Just remember to bleach and rinse the @#$@ out of these intex pools. My intex pool thread New Shark Pool ended in the demise of everything i put in it. I could not find a reasonable explanation until i spoke to someone who had a similar set up and similar results. The spray these pools with algacide and fungicides because they are not meant for fish. These -cides can prove deadly to living creatures so be careful.

I was told by a liner supplier that these pools and liners that are made for swimming have the algeacide and fungicides put into the liner so there is nothing you can do do get it out, he also said it could take a while to cause problems or it could be soon. I learned that i had to buy virgin vinyl that is untreated of course or go with the hdpe pond liners.

For the money and quality, look at a fiberglass or polymer pool. Much more durable - and no metal frame to screw with sensative elasmo species.

Try looking at Red-Ewald tanks. I love those things.
