Heh, I see that pfish.net has moved here O_o. Been a while since I was here (for all the oldschool pfish people, I was "Mattimeo"), I left the hobby for a few years. Although I'm not really as dedicated to it as before because of school and work, I've kept a few of my tanks up and running, and I've got a spare 180g lying around. I just recently set it up, and I'm slowly adding inhabitants to the tank. The inhabitants are all cetopsis coecutiens (blue whale catfish is what I see them labelled as in the trade). For those of you not familiar, they're pretty nasty little catfish, get around a good foot in length. They are shoaling predatory/parasitic catfish who either engulf smaller fish, feed on carrion, or devour chunks out of much larger fish (large B. Filamentosum are often seen with scars from Cetopsis attacks). They are notorious for attacking fish that have been hooked by anglers. They're neat in aquaria, feeding time is pretty crazy, when they frenzy they put piranhas to shame.

Here is an image, they resemble sharks to a great degree.

Just wondering if anyone else has any experience keeping them? They're one of the few fish that interest me enough to which I'd dedicate a fully decorated species tank.

I love em

We import them regularly, and have some in stock still.. They indeed are nasty little cats that will devour any meaty foods, and will gorge themselves if given the chance. We have found they don't mind cooler waters, which allows more oxygen in the water combined with a large powerhead they seem very happy.

Holy Crap! that's exactly what I saw at an LFS months ago labeled as 'blue dolphins', and I haven't been able to figure out wha theyt were unil now. Thank you, that's been bugging me for far too long. If you don't mind me asking, how much do they go for where you are? They were 79.99 each where I saw them, but that store tends to be pricey. Very cool fish!

Welcome to MFK Mattimateo. Pfish is not longer and this is MFK.
Those blue whale cats have intrigued me for quite some time too.
