Lfs had 4 of them when they came in. 2 were already sold so I picked up one. He/she about 1-2" and you can see the red coming out. I have it in a 10 grow out tank for now. Once he gets a little bigger I'll move him to my 55 then 240 show tank. Anyone have info on them. I saw a pic of them on the net. Almost like a festae color wise. How's they're aggression? I have it eating nls pellets 1mm on its first night home. Thought it seems to hide most of the time and will only eat when I'm not around. I'll try and take pics if it comes out. Thanks

It's easy to determine gender, males have small spots, are larger, and have a taller more robust profile

females don't have spots, remain 1/3 smaller and are more streamlined and colorful

Looking at the canines lets you know it is a predator, and what you may expect as far as aggression goes.
They are a moderately sized Parachromis that does best in 100+ gal tanks.

When young and housed alone, they can be very shy, and to bring them out of that shell, dithers can help, however, motags will eventually see dithers as food.
When they mature, any conspecific (Parachromis or other torpedo shaped predator) will be seen as competition and attacked.
