Traded about 9 cons and a jewel at the LFS. didn't really want/need any more than a baby GT. I have him/her in a 20 gallon with a few snails until he grows big enough to go in my 55. Pics aren't that great. also, how do you sex a GT, and how do I know if I have a goldsaum, silversaum, or a true GT?

that looks like a gold saum, you wont be able to sex until its bigger although, males tend to gte a nuchal hump and longer pointier fins.

what he said. if it has orange trim on it's dorsal and caudal fins, it's a gold saum. true green terror will have different looking scales and white edges on those fins.

LFS don't sell true GTs. Gold saums have orange edges, like yours. A silver saum would have white edged fins. Saums have reversed scale colors too. Shiny in between, and dark in the center. true GT's are the opposite of that.

thanks for the info. I'm pretty stoked about the little guy/gal.

Do you think he's better off alone in that 20, or should I throw in a con to keep him company and help him socialize? He's going to be with a JD and some cons in the 55, once he starts to mature.

Nice looking little GT. I would leave him alone for now and bulk him up some.
