I just picked up a 1" ebjd on Friday from a lfs for about $40. Kind of pricey but there the only ones in my area that sell them. So I got him on Friday and tried feeding him that night and he didn't seem to want to eat anything. I am feeding him and my geo New Life Spectrum flakes and 1mm sinking pellets. But I noticed the ebjd and geo picked at a Hikari algae wafer I threw in there for the Bala shark and rainbow shark. What I also noticed the sinking pellets are gone from the ground. Maybe the ebjd is not eating in front of me. I read they take awhile to get used to eating in front of you. Should I be worried? Only 4 fish in my new 120 gallon. 1 geo, 1 ebjd, 1 Bala shark and 1 rainbow shark. To cheat the cycle I took about 100 gallons from my already cycled 240 gallon tank. Filtration I have 2 hob marineland 90 gallon, 2 300 watt heaters.

Do ebjd take about 3-5 days to get used to eating? Hopefully there's nothing wrong with him. Thanks. Here's a pic of him

when i got mine they would only eat tetramin flakes and blood worms. i have finally gotten them to eat nls pellets but it took a month or two. ask the store you got him from what they were feeding and try that until you can ween him to what you usally feed, and try blood worms he'll probably eat that.

Ask the store guy , what he was feeding.
EBJD's are known to be finicky eaters , I have 3 and sometimes they gulp down on food n sometimes they would hide and eat only after i left the room.
I feed mine NLS , Hikari Bio gold , Earthworms and occassionally small guppy fishes

Tell me about it. He is really picky on what he wants to eat. I've put 1mm sinking pellets, flakes and blood worms all new life spectrum except for the blood worms. I seen him a couple of times nibble on some nls wafers I put in there for the Bala shark and rainbow shark.

All I see him do is follow my geo around behind him watching the geo eat. I sure hope he starts eating soon. This fish looks very nice.

what fish do you have him in with? they tend to be very skittish when they are small so you might want to consider setting up a small tank or putting in a divider for him to have his own space for a while. also put in some dither fish like some guppies that really helped mine.

The only dither fish I have in there is the geo. I have a total of 4 fish including him. 1 Bala shark, 1 rainbow shark, 1 geo and ebjd. The geo is the biggest fish in there but not by much. The other 2 are the same size as him. I wish my 10 gallon hospital tank wasn't occupied right now or I would throw him in there. My Texas Cichlid has been fighting a fungus on his face for about over a month now. Thanks for the advice.
