Just picked up clown loaches

I picked up 20 clown loaches before I picked up my heater.
They caught ich of course. By the time I got my heater I didn't have a thermostat so couldn't raise the temp to help cure it.

I wasn't even close to prepared for it.

I didn't even have quick cure or anything to help the fact that they had ich.
I added salt, but what is salt with no heat. Matters just came worst and worst and eventually lost them all.

All of that because I didn't get my heater in time.
What :newbie: mistakes!
 
The Quick Cure would've killed them all anyway. If you add the right amount of salt (2 TBS/5 g water) you'd have been just fine until you could get a heater. My "lessons learned" was never to use Quick Cure with Loaches, not even at 1/2 doses.

Whaaaat? are you serious?
I thought half the dosage would be fine for them.

I just learned something new. :D

Ahhhh, I would've still have my loaches. :nilly::nilly::nilly:
 
Oh yea-I lost quite a few batches of Loaches in the beginning. I don't care what the bottle says-even 1/2 does is not safe for Loaches. I use heat and salt only with Loach ich treatments. Kordon's Rid Ich+ (with the plus sign at the end) is supposed to be safe for Loaches. But I take 'Loach Loss' too hard so I've never wanted to risk trying it.
 
I know right,
I was devastated when they started dying once I put quickcure in.
I thought they died because I added quickcure a little to late.

Arg, I guess I was doing it right when I was adding salt.
I was getting afraid because they looked pretty bad so I went ahead and bought quickcure.
