So I just went to the store and picked some keyhole cichlids because I noticed they weren't keyhole cichlids when I saw them in the store a few weeks ago. The tank had about 10 keyhole cichlids, 5 bolivian rams and they about 6 or 7 unidentified fish that were just sold as the keyholes because both were white with 2 black markings. They looked a lot more like a geophagus species, so I did a little research and from memory I assumed Guinacara or possibly "cupid cichlid" geo's.

Here you can see what I got, I'm pretty sure it is Guinacara and I know that they are a pretty uncommon fish so I'm happy with my purchase

Yuppers, one of the Guianacara species. Depending on size, you might have to wait for an ID though ... need time to see if a spot appears, if the bar fades, if the black lappets on the dorsal fade.

thought I would throw a quick update here, theyre growing really well and the two I have seem to get along great, got some lovely colors coming out.

The store said that they had Guinacara Stergiosi on the list, so its most likely that they are that species.

You'll know if their midlateral line fades as they age and leaves just the midlateral spot when not stressed/breeding.

Stergiosi are the most common, so that makes sense. They used to be known as sp. Rio Caroni.
