I have had the Nikon D5000 for a little over a year, and I'm happy with it's performance, but along comes the D7000. I did my research and felt obligated to make the upgrade.

I placed an online order for the D7000 earlier today, and will be picking it up from a local Bestbuy this afternoon.

I feel that I've made a great purchase. All reviews on this camera are rating it as a superior product and it's being compared to some of Nikon's professional models.

I'm just wondering if anyone has examined, researched or purchased this item. If so, what's your opinion on it?

Thanks in advance.

I got my D7000! I'm allowing the battery to charge and reading up on how to use it. I will try to post some pics a little later. Now, I've also got a D5000 for sale.

I was looking at this camera before purchasing the canon 60d. My recommendation is to get a 50mm 1.8 (at least) lens. Canon/Nikon same differences to me, I liked the 60D cause of the articulating view finder.

i am looking forward to pics

Nice pick up.

What is the main difference between the two, price, and all?

Camera noobie, might take up this hobby one day.

Well, the D5000 is a great entry-level, consumer camera that can be purchased with a kit lens for about $600. It's dropped in price. The D7000 has adopted many of the features of Nikon's pro series cameras. It's considered to be at the top of Nikon's consumer line up of cameras. The D7000 can be purchased at $1,300, with a kit lens. The D7000 does have some great features. It's the only consumer camera made by Nikon, that has a metal frame (Top and back of camera). The rest of the body is plastic. All other Nikon consumer cameras have an all-plastic body. If you really want to compare the D7000 to other consumer Nikon's, go to www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond7000/
