i just got a whole bunch of plants, some liquid ferts, i have a fluval 405 and more importantly a 75 gallon with a bunch of plants and cloudy water for the past few days.. i have a powerhead 301 i got for free. any secrets for starting a plated tank. i have a duel flourecent lamp with a daylight bulb and a plant bulb. what else do i need, id rather not have to get an expensive co2 system. should i turn my bubles off?

This belongs in the planted forum. I'll get that moved for you. The best place to start is here where many of your basic questions will be answered.

oh and i woke up this morning and all my convicts were laying on the ground alive dying?! what the hell went wrong here? i brought a water sample to a lfs and it was fine. the nitrites were a little high nothing that would do that?

i'd just do some massive water changes, i think the ferts could have shocked your cons. did they tell you your exact water perams? and yea as some may tell you on here as i figured out, for better planted results just use a diy co2 system and root tabs and throw out the liquid ferts for a while. what spectrum are the lights? cause alot of those 'plant lights' really dont do any good for your plants. i just whent from using a basic 24" 20w plant light, to a 10,000k output t5 set up, and in the past five days that it's been on there i've noticed really big improvments in my plants.

well i have a duel home depot set up .. a flora sun bulb and a daylight bulb not exsactly sure. and its a 75 so what kind of diy set up do you recomend. if i did the yeast id need like 5 bottles

well, with a tank of that size than i guess you'd have no choice than to go with a compressed co2 set up, ussually you can find them for about 100-250 bucks. how densly planted is the tank anyways?

its not that dense at all. my water is really cloudy and i did a water change afterwards then added some liquid ferts and easy balance

and id rather not do a water change if i just put those expensive chemicals in.. no what i mean guys.. if i have to i have to but i did one 2 days ago also

Best Advice....Knock it off. Really. Let the tank rest. Depending on what you have planted, you probably don't need a C02 system. And if you do for a particular plant, you should probably get rid of the plant.

Don't add any more chemicals. You didn't need to add the liquid fertilizer yet.

Let the water settle down with the flourite. The clay particles will settle out after a few days and then do a 30% water change without Vacuming the substrate.

Was the tank established before you added the flourite? Was the tank already filled with water when you added the flourite? Lastly, did you layer some gravel over the flourite?

Let us know. Let the tank rest. Don't add chemicals. The fertilizer you added is probably the cause of your fish issues unless you added all new water without conditioning first. Most of the ferts are dosed by the capful, so you really shouldn't be out a lot if you didn't over dose the tank.
