Hey guys, I'm kevin, ive been in freshwater 12years, and saltwater around 1 year, currenltly setting up a reef tank. i figured id open with a little story, and why im set on Monster fish now.

Ive recently had a change in heart for monsterfish, 15 months ago I caught a largemouth bass from a local pond. I introduced him to his new 75g aquarium. He was shy for about a week then opened up, and after a few months began attactched to me and knew I ment no harm and I was the one feeding him.

There is no reasonable way for a typical hobbiest to sex bass, but i declaired him a male, and called him Bassy. We grew together, he was a great fish with just an awsome personality unlike any fish Ive kept, I say was because he just recently passed away. Bassy hit the glass and paralized himself, he was around 13'' in length when this happend. He had been with me, and my friend for 14months. It was very drastic for me to handle and for a couple weeks I still looked at his tank confused for a split second.

I've kept many fish over the years and by far the largemouth bass was just the coolest best fish, had the most personality and when he flared up, and opened his mouth as wide as he could, it was the most awesomest thing ever. I fed bassy jumbo shrimp, he went nuts over it, everytime i went to the refrigerator he would get super excited, he knew they were in there, very very smart fish.

Sence bassy, Ive been a fan of monsterfish, with a huge preference to largemouth fish. He was a monster in size at at heart. I hear peoples stories about thierr fish bitting them when they were changing aquascapes-this makes me chuckle. With bassy, your fingers didnt go in the water, that was the rule. It happened once, I tried to get a piece of floating food out with my hand, the next thing i knew i had a bass attactched to my finger and my fingertip was down hit throat, my face and shoulders were soaking wet as well from the tremendous dart at what he thought was food.

I'm going to be setting up another 125 soon, I just might do a native fish tank tank with local monsters, bass, blugill, catfish.
