Wanted to say hello to everyone. Currently have a 75 gallon tank with three silver dollars in that I'm going to convert into a chiclid tank that I look forward to all the extra coler as well as more fish. Used to have Oscars in there but unfortunately they are no longer with me. Also have a new 29 gallon tank that will soon be the home of 3 silver dollars as well as a few other fish that my daughter wants to pick out.

Anyways just wanted to say hello and look forward to getting more information from the group.

Welcome to MFK! :D

& if your wanting to make your 75g into a cichlid tank, I would go with african cichlids. They come in every color you can think of and most only get about 6". Here's just a few African Cichlid species you could consider....http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/aquarium-fish-supplies.cfm?c=830+831

I wouldn't recommend purchasing them from that website though unless your order is over $225 because then it qualifies for free shipping. If your order is under $225, then it will cost you $30-$35 dollars for shipping. Instead, I would just go to your local fish store and check them out and see what they have for african cichlids.

Well, thats just a suggestion...you can go with african cichlids if you want or you can go with american and new world cichlids...but I would go with african cichlids. (It also isn't recommend to mix the two categories of cichlids because it almost never works out)

Also, its always important to research the fish you plan to buy. By researching the fish, you will learn a lot of important information about them such as their diet and compatibility with other tankmates. & most fish store employees don't know squat about the fish they sell; their mainly just in it for the money. Some employees will even sell you fish that get way too big for the tank you have.
