ok i just set up my 125g with a xp3 & heaters all that good stuff. i washed the sand but i have some junk floating on the top real thin type of scum. how do i get rid of it

Surface agitation and a HOB with a surface skimmer attachment.
W/D trickle to suck off the "scum".
Powerhead(s) angled up to break it up.
Skimming daily with a net.
Actually anything to break the surface tension and allow it to be grabbed by the filter(s).

Lay a paper towl on top of the water for a few minutes and then carefully remove it...do this a few times if necessary

Paper towels work too, just don't use "Bounty, the quicker picker upper"

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a disturbance. Congrats. on the upcoming nuptuals. I pray that you live and have a wonderful life together in the future.
Mom's food is always great, no matter what.
