Anything from the Pygocentrus genus are generally schooling fish.. Remember that piranha school for defensive purposes in the wild not for hunting, so when cramped in small tanks in captivity they can and will kill eachother. This will include; Natts, Caribe, Piraya, Ternetzi and Super Reds.

The only thing i have heard of schooling from the Serrasalmus genus would be geryi, spilopuera and maculatus. I have heard of 3 irritans cohabbing but that is an exception not the rule. Generally speaking these guys are fin nippers and scale eaters in the wild.. The aggression seen in captive specimens may be just feeding behavior directed towards the same fish over and over again.
