was wondering if i put a nice sized fresh water rock in there with dried algee from about 3 months ago, will that effect my salt tank? the choc. chip star fish can't stop getting off of it.

if the starfish is eating it then it wont have a chance to pollute the tank. Otherwise i wouldnt suggest doing that all the time. Keep an eye on the params and do your water changes like normal and you should be fine.

its a 50 gallon just stated with salt so this is all new to me i have two hang on filters for it but i also have a new fluval 405. do you think that is to much for a 50 gallon? i have a snowflake eal, picasso trigger dwarf fuzzy lionfish, two 4 stripe damsels and one yellow tail, gulf toadfish, arc eye hawkfish, porcupine puffer, yellow tang and two starfish choc. chip and slither
