Got to thinking about what I want to do in the future.
Right now I got a 55 starting a cycle, well a couple weeks into it. lost track of time. I still got some ammonia and not a lot of nitrate, so it still got some time to go. I got a 20 gal high closer to the end of cycling.
as of 8/31/06:
"my 20 gal nitrate is between 40 and 80, guess around 60, nitrite is between 5 and 10, looks like 8, ammonia is down to 0.5. in my 55 my nitrate and nitrites are there but pretty much nothing, but my ammonia is 3.0."
"both tanks have a hardness of 300, alkaline of 120 and a PH between 7.8 and 8.4 guessing 8."
I'm working some extra days to get an acrylic tank, either a 240 long 96 x 24 x 25 tall or 180 wide 72 x 24 x 25 , or maybe if they can make either one with 30 or 36 with. I'm going to make a custom stand with a diy wet/dry sump set up. But that'll be a spring project, maybe winter. probably switch what ever ends up in my 55 into the bigger tank.
I'm thinking when I get everything set, my 55 will be a community tank, and going to plant my 20 gal. going to see if I can get the PH and hardness lower from some peat moss in the substrate. if I can't what do you all think of mixing distilled water in with some regular well water? I'd like to have a Betta in it.
