Hi all,
I've had "Ray" (wife named him), my retic, for about 15 months now. Once I got him eating, live blackworms was the only food he'd eat for the first 12 months or so. Periodically I'd put in some market shrimp, but no luck. At times he'd recoil from them as if he'd been poked with a hot poker. I could not bring myself to try the starvation method. I even tried soaking the shrimp in the worms overnight. It still didn't work.
Well, about 2 months ago, I tried putting a few shrimp in again. Imagine my surprise and delight when he ate them even if it was somewhat timid.
Now he vacuums them up. Thinking of re-naming him Kirby.
He's put on a bit of weight as well. Plumped up quite nicely.
