caught these a few monthes ago when it was a little bit colder. Striped bass and rainbow trout. Apparantly the large striped bass like to come in when the Nevada Department of Wildlife release rainbow trout for the fishermen. location is Lake Mead, Las Vegas, NV. The big one weighed a good 8 lbs. Note the 12 inch ruler

Very nice catch :)

thanks,

yeah the Colorado River runs down into Nevada, then gets dammed by the Hoover Dam, creates the largest man made reservoir made made by man(i believe), and they introduced the striper in the mid 50's or 60's and ever since they have been thriving and have a breeding population. Record caught at Lake Mead is somewhere in the 50 lb range, then if you go below the Hoover dam, the Colorado River starts again, and its called Lake Mohave, and there are even bigger striper down there because the water gets so deep, record caught there was about 67 lbs. huge fish in Lake Mohave being fed by weekly trout plants, because the water stays so cold going under the damn then out.

it's a great fishery.

lunch :)
