I hadnt been out in the trop pond room in about 3-4 days and i went in this morning and it stunk. My immediate thoughts were that one of my fish had jumped and died. I really hoped it wasnt the bass, i looked for the side and found my big female red find giant gourami dead, the ray had took a huge chunk out of her and forced her out of the pond. Its very hard to get giant gourami to live together in harmony and now ive just got the male. Im just suprised she went for the 2nd biggest fish, it was 18" long.

Ive fed them hevaily 2 days ago, it was alive then it has happened in the meantime. Just dont have time anymore.

E.G. tuesday i was in the shop allday i didnt get home til 7, then i did 3 hours coursework.

wednesday i was out till 2 at the doctors then a friend phoned me and said would i like to meet him out at meadowhall which i havent done ever before, i got home at 5 and then another 3 hours coursework i just dont have the time.
They are getting fed but i cannot believe shes killed a tankmate after just 2 days, shes gone longer than that before.

Start a "When rays attack thread" Bruce.......

That's hardcore. You think the ray was the cause or just partaking in a free meal?

Im pretty certain she did it, but she must have some strength to hold a fish of that size down. She could have taken out my oscars which are much smaller.

I'm really sorry for your loss.
Are you sure a ray could have done that to a giant gourami that size? I recently sold my 14" one and i can barely hold it still. Watch out for the male one then.
Also id love to see some pics of the pond.
