For years now I've really wanted an arowana.
I may be getting a job this week (I'm only 15, no haters), so I'll have more disposable income than I have had in the past.
I'm not saying I will get an arowana or the tank big enough to hold one, but just out of interest, how big would it need to be for a fully grown black arowana? And would that size differ if I had more than one?

Thanks

Minimum footprint for a black aro is going to be 96" x 30" with a height of 24" that puts you in the 300g range. As for multiples, I have four SA aros 27-30" in a 96 x 36 x 30" tank (450g) I feel it is too cramped and was much better suited for three arowana of this size. Bigger is always better, but there is also a question of what's practical.

Alright thanks. Your 450 gallon looks awesome btw. Would a square-er tank be more appropriate for an aro then?
Maybe 72 x 48 x 24? L x W x H.
That's around 300 gallons, and would fit better in my place. We only have one wall that would be a good place for a tank like that, and it's taken by my 125.

No you really need to have the length, these fish are always moving. You've gotta give them room to run. Tank need to be at least 3 times as long as the arowana.

Ok. Thanks man
