Ya know out of all the animals I’ve owned and my grouper is the most fun to work with. Converting it to marine is a pain but is a must because it’s a marathon since it was forced to live in fresh water... my question iswhat posses an individual to force this animal species specifically to live in fresh water. I’ve seen these animal in their natural habit and it boggles my mind...

Simple, saltwater is expensive to make and freshwater is extremely cheap to produce. We want the fish and have heard enough people that it can be done to believe it for ourselves so we do it.

Well for starters the people who sell them tell would be customers that the fish can live in such conditions.

It's honestly all about ethics. Just because it can be done, should it be done? There will always be ppl on both sides of the fence so to speak.

Groupers are a great group of fish. When news gets round that this one "might" be able to live in freshwater then people would want that of course and, ignorantly or not, will keep them in freshwater believing that to be suitable. Brackish tanks are not that different from FW, salt levels can fluctuate a bit as well so no real worry about absolute stability like with salt tanks.
