So cal/ LAX
I picked up one single green terror out of a batch at an lfs because i noticed he had a small nuchal hump growing. I threw him into a well decorated 10 gallon tank by himself and the nuchal hump started to slowly "shrink" so i picked up 5 more from a different batch but the same size and moved them into a 20x20x20 cube. Within 4 days his nuchal hump his back and much bigger than before (i'll try to get some pictures) but i noticed theres another male in there with a smaller nuchal hump. The one with the larger hump (the original first one i bought) is for sure the dominant fish and the other one with the hump looks to be second in pecking order.
So my question is will this "sub-dominant" male grow a nice nuchal hump even without being the most dominant fish in the tank (how it is now) or should i split the group of 6 in half with one dominant male in each tank?
Thanks!

When kept alone and isolated their hump will probably shrink due to lack of competition and no need to be the "bigger fish" It's all basically a dominance thing.

A group=you'll get that dominant male/female with a huge hump.

Alone=average sized hump.

Should i split the group in half so i get two males with huge humps? Or will the "sub-dominant" male still develop a big hump, even as being second in pecking order?

Only the dominant fish would have the large hump and I wouldn't do two males because due to aggression issues. But you could get a group and as they get older weed them out until you end up with a male female pair that has nice colors and the male would have the big hump you desire.
