After getting a trauma caused case of popeye in his right eye from moving tanks, and still recovering from a case of gill fluke. (He's wild caught)
Treating with Fluke-tabs at the moment and I have to say he's doing great!! He's been in the wars and i'm more than happy he's recovering. Had a piece of driftwood in the tank that was given to me by a friend who said he had soaked and leeched it properely, but it started to rot in my tank, grow weird fur and really tannined up my water there for a while, I removed it, did a few partial water changes and it's cleared up about 50% planning on buying some Seachem Purigen tomorrow to add to my Canister.

Hope you enjoy the video of him!! Quality is iffy but there is some good closeups at 0.30 - 0.55 and at 1.10. He ate a few very small Firetail Gudgeons but I didn't catch it that well, he's really quick!!!
Will try to get some better quality pictures and videos soon.

I have had that "fur" appear on pieces of wood that Ive had for quite a few years. It didn't show up the first few years of using the wood oddly enough.I tried scrubbing and re drying the wood and the stuff still came back so I no longer use the wood in my tanks...Someone here said the stuff is harmless but I just don't like the look of it.

Really? I'm going to try soak it for another few months, see how we go. I don't like the fur either, left a heap of cram on my sand when i removed it.

Yeah, couldn't stand it as it looks like fungus to me....I use artificial wood pieces for the most part now.

Well it depends on where you buy them and the size of the pieces...There are two nice rock formations that I plan on purchasing and I've found them priced cheaper at this one store than any other place that I know of that carries them.

Do you know of any online places that would ship pieces?
I live across from a river so I can get nice free rocks at anytime but some cheap driftwood real or fake would come in handy.
Come to think of it theres a montage video on myself catching big wild Jacks in the river across from me. Might have to find that and post it up at some point!

I just noticed you are in Australia.I usually order from Fosterandsmith smith.com as they have nice decorations.I have found that places like PetSmart are good sources of artificial decor but the prices can be a little high.I'm not sure if those options are open to you given your location...If not than at least you have that nearby river to "shop" at and the prices there can't be beat....Do you live near the location of that giant crayfish, the Murray Cray I think it's called?...I'd love to have one but no one imports them that I know of.

Yeah the going price at my LFS for a 3' piece will set you back about $200.
Mmmm The Murray Cray, always loved the look of them, i've only seen a few and that was when I was a lot younger. They seem to be pretty far and few between because I think they're numbers are plummeting in the wild. I will keep my eye out and let you know if I find one.

Thanks and work on getting that montage video that you mentioned earlier...I'm sure quite a few of us would enjoy seeing it.
