ive been shopping round for a baby Oscar for quite awhile now but never happy with what I've seen at any of the lfs near me... They all Look like the oscars in the video, cool patterns but no reds.... Will the colour up? Do you think these guys have protential to grow in to stunners. I really want an O with dark base colour and fiery red tiger pattern

I could be wrong but those look like wild type Oscars to me. Tiger Oscars( The one with the red streaking) are a man breed strain and are probably the most common cichlid breeds in the hobby something that is common place at the big chain pet stores like Petco.

The wild type strain seem to be a lot rarer in the hobby so a lfs may focus on stocking them over the man breed types.

I would try going to a chain fish store if you're looking for a tigar, that or ask the lfs to order some for you

these were at a chain store....defiantly not wild caught... seen similar oscars in almost every shop i go to. Back in the day when i had a bif oscar and a fully stocked tank it seemed that every shop had tonnes of cute little tiger with awesome colours but now i actully want on they are no where to be found... always the way haha
