I have now 3 oscars- tiger, lemon(so the store claims I think it is just an albino)20180312_124131.jpg 20180312_124451.jpg common. 2 are 2", 1 is 2.5". I want a pair so 1 will be going not sure how long that may take to find out.

I also added a 2.5" Female Salvini

Just wondering if this will work out since I got them young so they will be around each other before they get too aggressive. They are in a 65g. I plan to put then in a 125g or bigger if anyone thinks it would improve chances of success.

Well, a 65 is not large enough for even one Oscar to live in. You might not think so now, but trust me, when these fish are 12"+, you will know what I was talking about. You will definitely need the 125 gallon for a pair. I think that would be a good size for them.

Salvini are much more aggressive than Oscars generally, but if the Oscars are larger it will probably be okay. I would keep an eye on them, if the salvini is picking on the Oscars at all I would separate/re-home the salvini and get a less aggressive tankmate for them.

2 Oscars and a salvini (or replacement that stays around 8" or under) in a 125 would be ok in my opinion, as long as you keep up on maintenance every week.

I agree with Gourami Swami, your tank with soon become too small for any oscars, but the salvini will more than likely kill them anyway, and solve your problem.
South Americans (Oscars) are pansies compared to salvini from Mexico and northern Central America.
But because oscars generally are mid and surface water fish, they may temporarily stay out the salvini's way (temporarily) but because the tank is way to small, not for long.
To me a 65 is only big enough for a single salvini, and some non-cichlid dither fish.

Thank you for the advice I will probably move the oscars to the 125g alone. Then the salvini can have the 65g to herself.
duanes duanes when you say some other non-cichlid with the salvini in the 65g any insight on a purple spotted goby and/or peacock eel? with her? She's so young i guess it's hard to tell how tolerant she will be of other fish in general.

Since salvini is very territorial, I believe any species that lives near or on the substrate may be at risk.
The type fish that I believe it wouldn't be territorially threatened by, would be schooling dither fish, like tetras or live bearers, (large enough not to be eaten)
In nature gobies are direct competitors with cichlids, they eat cichlid fry so my "guess" is the salvini would instinctually attack a goby in that size tank.
Although in the video below the cichlids are not salvini (they are JDs (Rocio)), they are from Mexico, and also from the same tribe, Therapsini, I include it to show how, the space they use, and with what, they share waters with in nature.

Wow thankyou so much I'll do some research on types of dither fish to use. I have alot to look into pretty inexperienced with keeping cichlids. I started out with gourami, sharks, skirt tetras so I got pretty knowledgeable with them but really wanted something bigger with personality.

Also great video. Looks like it was a great dive :)
