depends on what you're feeding it, how often, water quality, etc. My baby monos are 3.5" and arent growing too quick because all they take is bloodworms and fd krill at the moment.
 
well i recently sold my 10.5" bought him at 2" and in 4 months he was 10.5" first tank he was in was a 55 then to a 100 then last was 125
