Hi all,

Been a lurker for a long time, new poster...so on and so forth.

I have a relatively time sensitive issue on hand. I recently got a ridiculously good deal on a small school of four Synodontis njassae and as they were absolutely tiny (less than perhaps 3/4") when I bought them, I set them up a very small 2.5g sand substrate, heavily-planted tank until they were large enough to go into another tank (10g slate gravel bottom I would rather not put them in, a sand substrate planted 20g and a 30 breeder sand substrate housing 3 4-6" Horabagrus brachysoma that would make a snack of them soon as look at them. Their eventual home (for at least several months as I know the suns will outgrow the 30 breeder) will be the 30 once they get large enough to hold their own with the sun cats. The little synos are far more aggressive then the suns, but will never get quite as large.

Anyways, these miniature monsters have been growing like weeds, almost so fast that you can see growth on a day to day basis. One, however, has been growing quite a bit faster than the other three and has clearly become the dominant individual in the tank.

This would not be a problem, but for the fact that I am going away on vacation for two weeks. If I were at home I would feel comfortable making a decision on whether to continue housing all in the 2.5, move some to the 20, move all to the 20 or any other number of options. However, given that I will be away and unable to monitor how well any of them are adapting to whatever situation I had decided to put them in, I am very hesitant to make any decisions.

I have massive over-filtration on the 2.5g so I know waste won't become a problem and all of my tanks are outfitted with auto-feeders so food shouldn't be a problem either, but I am worried that the big syno will injure or kill one of the others over territory.

I would love any and all input and as quickly as possible. I am leaving tomorrow around 2:00 for vacation.

Thank you so much,

-Mark
