It was mislabeled in a tank full of convicts at petco, he claimed half the tank for himself lol I saw the classic parachromis jaw structure and had to scoop him up. Paid maybe $5

Now that's what I would call a NICE pick up.....give me directions to that Petco lol.....looks better than mine when mine was that size in the first couple pics and very much the same in your most recent, and you paid 1/3 the price...when I see other mota I am always compelled to show mine....here are pics 4 months after I purchased mine from roughly the same size to compare to your male which is now 4 months after you purchased him.....

And here is mine in pics from yesterday and today... My previous pics were taken 12/24/2014... I took Many pics only missing maybe a month throughout his development.... I urge you to keep taking pics of yours and post them and if you would like I could post pics of mine at the same timeframe so you could get an idea of what to expect as it grows...mine has a voracious appetite and I have to admit I did not restrict his food that much as you can see....

Wow! Nice adult size, form, and color. That is a great idea. I will continue to document his growth and tag you in the post. How big is he currently and how long did it take? 8 months right, or am I miscounting?

   Thanks....I have to revisit and review the time frame to give his growth rate I am estimating based on the pics I have and what I remember.... have had him over two and a half years....he was about 2.5 inch 8/24/14 when I got him and was about 9.5 by the 1 year anniversary late august 2015...was not until over another year later(10/16) that he I noticed he appeared to be 12 inches and another 6 months to his present size 12.5...he my be slightly bigger......
