Juvie Jaguar Colours

I've currently got 7 1.5-3" Managuense in my 5fter and am trying to sex them. My problem though is that although some are showing really clear colours the bigger ones are quite monochrome at the moment and will only briefly show their markings before they change again.

In particular the largest one I have - that because of shape I think is a male - very rarely shows any markings at all, and you have to look right up close to see markings.

So is this normal? I'm guessing colours reflect their mood / level of stress but wanted to check!

It's normal. When my male was that small and pissed, it would look like a pale yellow color.
