i have a 75 gal. with a dozen 1-2" fhs in it. i am selling them off as i can but will having that many in a tank impede how well they show at this point? (i.e. will it affect kok size and coloration that they would show vs. being seperated out at this size)
i want them to show as well as they can to help get rid of them.

Let them get a little bigger before you do anything. Around the 3" mark and you'll see a difference.

Some frys with the potential will show a bit more than others while they are together, but things really show once they are all seperated. Some might have NO potential but once they are seperated, they might turn out so much better than your best looking one from the batch. This especially happens more if that one happens to be the smaller/submissive one. Get some dividers, seperate them out and keep them for another 2-3 wks and observe which one shows potential that you like.

Hope this helps,
JP

that was the next question, will dividers be enough seperation in the same tank to get better results? i have nowhere near enough tanks to give each one a tank to grow out.

Yes:D They won't be just as effective as each frys being alone in each tanks, but enough to show the potential so you can start your elimination game;)

ok, i set up the dividers, and i put the largest one showing the most color in his own segment. i have like 6 in each of the other 2 segments. i came home and one had already been beaten to death. SO, if i can't sell them fast enough, do i just let them weed themselves out, or should i pic the ones i think have the most potential and just dump the rest?
