Hi,

I have a juvy green arowana about 5-6 inches. I wanted to take her off on live feeds. What feed should I give her? Pellet? Silverside? Her tankmates are. 1 NTT, 3 Blue hook, 1 Flagtail, 1 endli and 1 ornate.

All of them are eating silverside though they are bigger than my arowana.

Thanks

Yes pellets, I'm surprised it wasn't already eating pellets at the store. Try giving it Hikari Food Sticks, available pretty much everywhere including Big Al's.

Agree 100%. My 5" munchkin green gets Hikari sticks (cereal) for breakfast, and krill and shrimp for lunch and dinner. Actually, he prefers shrimp and krill, but after not eating all night, that is the only time he will take the sticks.

Pellet will be pretty tough to train... But some fish which are born greedy actually accept pellet faster.

If you must train your fish to take pellet, you need to be persistant and not giving in to the fish in just a few days time. Younger fish are easier to pellet train due to their greediness.

But do use better "tasting" one as a start like hikari tropical foodsticks. Break the stick into smaller chunk and siften them in water first before intro to your aro. Higher chance of success I notice using this method.

Alternatively, you can feed it dead meat like shrimp meat deshelled and cut into bite size. Hope this help.:)
