K1 air stone placement

Hello I have a sump with k1 media in the area is around 29x15x12 inches currently with about 30litres of k1 I have a 45lpm air pump that I can run 6 air stones off any one got any idea where the best positions to put the air stones are and what size/shape air stones to use I currently have a 12inch air stone at each end here's a pic as you can see the middle section isn't moving at all how can I fix this?

I would try to force it down with a sheet of acrylic with holes in it or something, I imagine this would work some what.
