Do I need a air pump w/air stone to move the k1 around in my sump or can I just put a powerhead pump to move it around? Is there any different? Thank...

You could do that but the point in having a air pump is to higly oxygenate the water so that there is lots of oxygen for the bacteria to use. If you dont want to have such a big air pump then you could use both powerheads and a smaller air pump so that you still get the circulation and the oxygenated water.
