I have 3 questions, and would be grateful if someone could help me out here.

1 .I have been feeding my 14cm FH, a mixture of pellets and dead prawns until now. Last week I got some live earthworms for him from the LFS. The first day I threw 2 in there, he gobbled em up so FAST... but now he does not even touch em, fully ignores them

2. It is VERY cold in Australia now, my heater is set at the normal temp, the water condition seems fine, but I was wondering...do fish like Flowerhorn, eat LESS, or become WAY less active in the winter? In the summer, he was all jumpy and active...but as winter came he, does not eat the minute i throw in the pellets, he swims around, and I later find the pellets eaten?

3. If it is due to the weather here, wouldn't the heater keep them fine? or do they understand changes in the environment around them and react in this manner?

I am very surprised:irked: hes not eating as fast as he used to...but he does eat, cause i wake up in the morning the foods gone. :D

The flowerhorn's metabolism and appetite is only affected by the temp of the tank water. The external temp and season should not affect him at all. So it must be something else affecting his appetite if it has changed. Does he still seem a bit disinterested in food if you don't feed him for a day or to ? It could be just that you are feeding too much.

As for the worms, this sort of thing happens sometimes. maybe they gave him gutrot or left a nasty taste in his mouth. Whatever, he now seems to associate them with something unpleasant.

I might get a bigger heater for the tank, and yeah he seems disinterested, i feed him two times a day, in kinda large amounts, but I really think i need to heat up the water a bit more... cause the cover of the tank, has a space at the back for the filters to sit, so i think a lot of heat is escaping through that, so i will most likely get a bigger heater... but yeah he seems disinterested, but later eats, hes got no scars, if i put my hands in the water, he will let me touch him...so I guess it must be the tempreture of the water, its really cold here, I will buy a new heater I think. Thanks.
