Hi all. I was advised to treat my 30 long tank that has my molly and platy fish with Kanamycin, but was unable to find it at the time. I did find Kanaplex and have started treatment with it. Since then, I found someone who sells Kanamycin capsules and was wondering if the Kanaplex is good, or should I order the capsules and use those?
I am treating for a mouth fungus that has been in the tank for 3+ weeks. I have treated with pima/melafix, fungus clear, maracyn & maracyn2, but nothing has worked so far.
I pulled out all the gravel and all but a few plants and 1 deco and will clean them thoroughly and replace after they are well again.
I added salt at a rate of 2-3 tbls per 5 gallons. Water changes every 2 days as I had to pull out the filter cartridges for medication. Feeding strictly a medicated food for bacteria. I have added vita chem and a drop of garlic. I added 2 additional air bubbling stones for a total of 3 to keep their oxygen level at a good rate. Temp is about 80.
All this, and they still have the fungus and the ones that don't appear to have it any longer have their mouths stuck in the open position.
Any other suggestions? Should I order the Kanamycin?
