Hello,

Anyone know anything about this species of turtle? How rare are they in the trade and What do one of these guys go for? Scenietfic name is Coura Mouhotii.

Thanks.

They are as of now RARE. I remenbar seeing a bucket full at dirt cheap many years ago... If I knew better I would have brougth them all. There are a few people breeding them in the Us and Europe. Like most turtles they mature very slowly and even with several adults of the oposite sexes it can take many years to acomplish consistent breeding results. However once they start its hard to make them stop. Babys go for like 170 euro each.

They are VERY hard to get hold of. Would love to try them as well as big heads, flowerbacks, etc, but Im not seeing that happening soon.

I have 3 for sale... if anyone is interested $1000 each FIRM. The largest one is a male about 7.5" and 2 smaller one are female about 6-6.5".

Hummm a trio, nice. How long have you kept them? Have they ever bred? If they are long term kept and specially bred the kind of money your asking is worth every penny.

Had them for about 2 years... haven't bred yet. Haven't really tried to breed them tho. These guys are so rare... there is barely any information on the internet about them. One of the rare turtles that do not need to bask.

Might be willing to trade for Cuora trifasciata.

i had them. problems with low humidity....their shells would look chalky and face would be scratchy. the solution was a fogger....they absolutely loved it. (i already had a shallow pan of water for them as they are not swimmers). they used to cost around 30 dollars at a petland.

the flowerback box turtles i would see for sale at a reptile show at around 75ish.

i also had Yellow-margined box turtle....which was annoying as hell. could not get it to eat anything but waxworms, mealworms, and earthworms.

i gave away all my turtles for free like a moron.

agreed. infact they would like to spend alot of the day hiding and only coming out periodically during certain times of the year.

You do realize Flavomarginata and most Cuora are animal/bug feeders right? You were annoyed by an animal that was doing what it was hard wired to do?
