Bought an 8" silver for $40 six weeks ago. Took two weeks before he would eat anything and I tried everything. Finally he decided that it was time to eat and boy did he eat. Siversides, crickets, krill, market shrimp. You name it he would eat it. I practically hand fed him in the end and had been treating him like one of my kids. He was 11" when I measured him after picking him up off the floor stiff as a board. Jumped out of that inch and a half opening where the plastic attachment fits on glass versatops. He was well on his way to being a large and impressive arro when his life was cut short. Just a warning: keep your tanks totally covered. Too much time and money is invested in these guys to let them just jump out of your tank. He WAS my favorite fish and a hard lesson was learned.

Sorry for your loss. For some reason Aros seem to have a death wish like that. They'll find the smallest hole and bail out on the floor.

Just covering the tank will not be enough. You must secure the top with some sort of weights or latches.
