How to keep a tank cool when the room temp is over 85 deg?

Run the AC or get a chiller.

try running a couple of large cpu fans across the surface of the water, this will increase water loss due to evaporation but will also dispell heat.

simple fix to try ifu hav glass tops take te plastic of one or two i have done that with mine WORKS 4 ME

just opening the canopy can help. I do the cpu fan thing...works awesome and its quiet. Ice. Water change. Relace the glass top with a screen top like the reptile guys use on there tanks.

the screen is a great idea unless u have a monster that likes to splash ....never even thought that way .....leaven the lids open scares me my dovii likes to ump out did it twice so far lil bassturd

I use a small fan, faster evap. but dose the trick for me and I'm in AZ so it gets hot when the AC is not on all day.

Yep or do like me and keep all tanks in the basement.I don't have central air in the house and the summers are brutal to the tank temps.The basement rarely goes above eighty.

Float bottles half filled with ice.. Depending on tank size depends on how many it will take. Replacing glass tops with screen tops helps a lot also, so can fans.
