Is it possible to keep these two together with a school of silver dollars? What's a good size tank if so? Would a 150 gallon 72" x 24" x 20" work? It's deeper than it is tall.If not what could go with a jaguar?

So i most likely could keep these two together in a 180 gallon without them destroying one another?

The only difference in the 150 and 180 is 4" of height, which really shouldnt be an issue since neither cichlid is really a top dwelling fish... As far as the compatibility it's really up in the air because it kinda depends on the Jag, I wouldn't try a red devil but perhaps some other decent sized cichlids, maybe a couple of severums or something. Then again the Jag might be a total tank buster and kill everything that moves, never know lol

That's sorta what i was thinking on the tank but was not sure if the extra 4" would make a big difference. I totally agree you never know how a certain fish is going to be when grown.

yep, just when you have the potential for BOTH fish to become psychos, it's a lot riskier, idk i'd try maybe growing out the Jag with a female GT and a turquoise severum, less risky than the Red Devil and if you had to rehome them you wouldnt need another 75 gallon on hand you could get away with a 40B or 55 probably

IMO they might fight. My friend gave me a red devil. I had him in my 240gal tank, by the next day after putting him in he started fighting with my wolf. I have a bunch of bichirs and two gars so it seem like he picked on my wolf since he was by himself. I put a divider with the red devil by himself and gave it a few days, when I took out the divider the next day they were fighting again. This time I separated the red devil in a separate tank, waited a few days and put him back to see what will happen and again fighting. So I had to get rid of the red devil. So again IMO they will fight even if you get a bunch of silver $

150g should be fine. I've done this. I had a midas,Black belt, jack dempsy,Green terror and a jag together in a 150 grow out with 4 tf barbs as dithers. All the fish were around 4"-6". They had plenty of hiding spots and besides the ocasional chasing they all got along. of course this depends on the individual fish. All of mine were together from about 2".

Hope this helps,
Chris

^^ only thing is that was a growout, i think the OP plans to have these fish in that tank for life (though i could be mistaken
