Hey guys,

I plan to keep a couple muskies(or Northern Pike) in my 200 gal tank. I intend to breed them also... I might buy a larger aquarium if necessary.

I know that there are a lot of people to experience muskies in their tanks. I hope i get some answers. .Here is some questions:

1- Is it possible to breed them in aquariums and how?
2- How to feed them? Will they eventually accept pellets? Or in some videos i saw that some people fool them with dead fish. They attach a dead fish to a rope and move it like a lure. Is this gonna work?
3- How many muskies can i have in a tank to breed them? Only 1 pair?
4- What will baby muskies eat?
5- What kind of a decoration and lighting should i provide?
6- I know that i shouldn't heat the tank but the temperature might get up to 80F(25C) in summers. Is this a big problem?

Thanks guys.

That was fun!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

But if your serious, you are not going to be too successful. You are talking about a large (potentially 60 pounds) open water ambush predator that lives a solitary life.

I am not from the USA. So i am not doing anything illegal. And i don't mean to torture these animals. I will provide enough space and good conditions for them.

What did i do to piss you so badly to behave like an enemy.

Can i get some real answers?

Enemy? My friend, a musky is a giant predator who happens to be very delicate and demanding as far as animal husbandry goes. I would try something else.

Who said anything about it being illegal? :)

Peace.

No, I don't get what you mean ! Come on! Most people keep species that can get 10 times bigger than MUSKY! Alligator gar? Pangasius Sanitswongi? Arapima???

Musky gets much smaller than these species and muskies are much less active than these animals either, which means smaller volumes are much more acceptable for muskies than those species.
