so, my air conditioning went out yesterday...my dojo loach tank, and tank with all my corydoras are crazy warm, as house is 85 or higher [90 degree weather out].

i changed some water, but it wasn't drastic enough, they hate really warm water. so, lol, i took some ice cubes, and a few drops of conditioner, and TADA!!! Instant tank cool down!!!

[of course i only added a few at a time to allow them to melt and circulate, as well as to let the fish acclimate]

other thing you can do is freeze soda bottles or milk juggs with water, cap them, and then float in your tank. just ensure to keep eye on the temp so it wont drop too much

thanks for the idea =] the water is better now, but i'll probably have to act on it again tomorrow. they're just so lethargic when it gets warm ya know? but they seem much better now. haha they sat there on the opposite end from the cubes watching it instantly melt, it was hilarious, they slowly inched over to the other side after awhile, it was funny

Also, open the lid on the tank, and have a fan blow over the top... that always works for me

get some egg crate to prevent jumpers then leave the lid open

freezing ziplock bags of tank water works great (cut the bags off then no one can eat plastic

clip on desk fans blowing across the water works well

more air pumps

Man be careful with ice. You can cool it too quick. A fan is best way imo. Blow the fan directly across the surface of the water. This shoudl keep the tank (220 size) a good 3-4 degrees cooler. Its like a 10 waterchiller!! save yourself 600$$ lol

Opps, I just saw you were paying attention and adding slowly!! Good thinking!!!

thanks for the ideas guys =], luckily i woke up and the air kicked back on, so I should be
good for now
