is it safe to keep freshwater clams with catfish. i have a RTC, RTC hybrid, TSN, Ripsaw and a pleco, would the clams be safe? moreover if the cats eat them will they hurt them??

I dont know but I have a feeling that the cats will eat them. And even if they do, I dont think it should be a problem. RTCs in their natural habitat do swallow crabs whole.

yea makes sense i just wasnt sure how the clam shells would digest

Well the shell is exoskeleton, and its pretty much calcium (if I'm not mistaken... I did get pretty bad grades in my high school zoology class)

I have heard (and I say heard not no for a fact) that when the freshwater clams start to breed the eggs can get into the fish's gills and cause problems. Agian that's just what I've heard.

anyone know anything else about the eggs? and yea if there calcium, eating the shells may be good for the fish.

which ones do? just so i know
