hey guys and gals, my 70 gal lid is having issues with humidity, whenever i open it a huge amount of condensation runs down and i have to be careful to make sure none ends up in my plugs. Is there anything i can do to keep humidity from staying in the lid, right now i am thinking small fans or similar. any ideas guys?

You have a giant box of water. You will have condensation.

i would like to keep humidity out to reduce condensation till i can build a proper fibreglassed wood and glass lid or similar

For both, lighting diffuser is hard to find in south africa, but any mesh might work. I am just reluctant to cut really large holes due to the flimsy construction of the lid

Any mesh will be fine, it will increase humidity in your room though. It shouldn't be a big deal.

If your lid is very flimsy you might be able to put a large rock in the middle. This will flex the lid in, so when the water condescenses on the lid it will drip down to the lowest point, the rock pushing down, and drop back into the tank. I am not sure if it will work but it might.

I am worried that might crack it. I will talk to my dad about mesh and or fans.

It's available as eggcrate in SA, check with industrial plastics retailers, you can also mount computer fans in your hood to remove some of the moisture.
