I went fishing today and caught a lot of sunfish like usual and I was wondering what you guys think about keeping sunfish. I know that some people do it, but I just wanted to know some basics on keeping them like tank size, food, etc. They would be in a tank by themselves also...

I kept a group in a 55 for a year or two. Once they settled in they were a lot like keeping convicts that didn't breed constantly. They fought constantly but never hurt each other, ate anything (after they settled in well) and seemed very hardy.
The only warning I woulg give is to check your local laws to make sure there is no issue with you keeping them.

And make sure you know their maximum size. Some stay small but some get pretty large!

I did it, they are great. They just beasted my other fish. so heads up, they get territorial

sunfish are great. i have a green and i love it. i say go for ittttttt

I actually brought a couple of them home and dropped them in the tank and they seem to be doing well, They have to do a little adjusting but they should live fine on crickets and pellets right? Also, would they eat feeder minnows?

Yes, that will be fine. It may take about 2 or 3 weeks before they will eat pellets. It might be sooner if they watch any of the others take the pellets. Don't forget to add worms, sunfish love them. You may also want to add aquarium salt, to help them heal any wounds. Follow the instructions on the salt box.
