I have a big pacu (around 16-18") that i have had for years.. It is really my wife's fish. I have the opportunity to pick up a 440 gallon tank today for a heck of a price.

I am thinking that pretty soon i am going to move my big momma motoro 18" disc to this tank too.

It seems like somebody on here had a huge pacu with there motoro with no problems. i have seen at some zoos this combo successfully, but on a lot bigger scale tank. THis pacu has killed fish in the past such as a 15" tem. but i don't THINK he would pay any attention to a ray.. the tank is a 6.5' x 3' x 3', so there should be plenty of room for them to stay away from each other.

any body seen this work?

Do you feel it is worth the risk?

it could be :)

what is the worse that could happen? an 18" ray is pretty thick and strong. I don't think he could cause more damage that the male does after breeding..

As long as it was monitored closely.

At the growth rate she is growing it may happen one day

I would be worried about the rays' eyes being bitten off by the pacu.

Pacu's possess a tremendous bit pressure,a large one like yours could remove a rays tail right from where it starts like the blink of an eye,its similar to keeping a large MBU puffer with a ray, theres every chance it may ignore the ray but if it does decide to attack the results are catastrophic...........not a risk i would take!!!
