This has been her tank since summer. She nipped him when he got in....didn't take long for her to see its his tank now. I added stress coat to the water. Shes followed him ever since. No aggression no biting. They're cleaning to spots in the tank to breed..... all in 36 hrs.

I personally don't cut lights off for no longer than 1 day but it depends on the situation. Happy to hear things are going well.
 
Lights off for the first 6-24 hours depending on the flowerhorn's behavior. If they are hiding in the corner, or behind structures the leave the lights off. If they are actively swimming towards you and interacting with you shortly after being put in the tank then the lights can go on after only a few hours. Fish are definitely more comfortable inside of a fish tank with the lights off, especially as they settle in.
